catalyst

For over five decades, Catalyst has been the leader in the area of women’s advancement in business. In January 2014, I became Catalyst’s fourth President & Chief Executive Officer. As the first internal successor and the first from outside the United States, I am honored to follow the amazing women and role models who were my predecessors. Catalyst Founder Felice N. Schwartz’s visionary goal in 1962 was “To bring to our country’s needs the unused capacities of educated women who want to combine family and work.” Sheila Wellington, Catalyst’s second President, made Catalyst known for our rigorous, data-driven research. Ilene H. Lang, our third President, guided Catalyst into new global markets while doubling revenue, tripling membership, and quadrupling brand awareness. As I begin my tenure, I want to see Catalyst remain focused on sharing insights and creating practical solutions that will drive sustainable change globally for women and business. However, we must also continue to make our mission relevant to a new generation of men and women, to think about women’s place at work from the shop floor to the C-suite, and to influence the priorities of companies across their value chains. But we need your support to help us fulfill our mission to expand opportunities for women and business. We’ve launched the Lang Legacy Fund to honor Ilene H. Lang, Catalyst’s President & CEO from 2003 to 2013, and her passionate and untiring work on behalf of women and business. With intelligence, grace, and success, she is a role model for countless women and men dedicated to changing workplaces and changing lives.
