TTI, the leading global distributor specializing in interconnect, passives, and electromechanical components, has added a semiconductor distribution group to its family of companies. This business is named the TTI Semiconductor Group, or TSG, and it is being built through the acquisition of successful companies that are focused on the authorized distribution of semiconductors. As a rule, each company will operate predominantly standalone, maintaining its own identity, customer and supplier relationships, and financial statements. In the event that two such companies closely mirror each other in location and market focus, they will be blended together in a way that preserves their strengths and eliminates competition between them. For all, the parent company will add capital to fuel growth. The first company acquired into the group was Symmetry Electronics headquartered in Southern California. Symmetry specializes in the wireless, cellular and video side of semiconductors, and the expanding world of IoT. The next acquisition was Changnam in South Korea, a strong local semiconductor distributor with prime focus on the automotive market, and secondary focus on cellular, industrial and consumer electronics markets. Both companies staffing is dominated by people with engineering degrees and backgrounds with a clear mission to design in their suppliers’ products and support production builds as they develop. Check out their websites (www.symmetryelectronics.com and www.changnam.com) for more information. This is just the start, and much more is to come as owners of companies that fit our model, and who like what TSG is building, join the family. This group will operate independently of TTI insuring that both TTI and TTTI Semiconductor Group companies will maintain their specialist business models.Rather than a more typical business consolidation, logical links will be formed between TSG companies and other members of the TTI Family of Companies, and joint marketing initiatives undertaken to maximize the overall value that the Family of Companies brings to their customers and suppliers. A major connecting point is Mouser Electronics, a family member specializing in providing the newest products and supporting materials to the world’s electronics engineering community. Semiconductor customers and suppliers alike have long wanted a specialist distributor that does for silicon what TTI does for IP&E.
